Now Offered as IV and IM
Both options are safe and effective—we’ll help you choose the best one for your needs.
What is Ketamine?
Ketamine is a powerful medicine originally used for anesthesia. Today, it’s used in small, controlled doses to help people struggling with:
-
Depression (especially when other treatments haven’t worked)
-
Anxiety
-
PTSD
-
Chronic pain
-
And more

It works by blocking the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA)—which is involved in the regulation of mood and emotional processing—receptor in the brain and has a different action mechanism than traditional antidepressants.
When ketamine blocks this receptor, it causes an increase in the release of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), which promotes the growth and survival of neurons in the brain. This increased BDNF activity is believed to play a key role in repairing the brain and treating depression.
Ketamine can be administered in four ways: intravenous infusion, intramuscular injection, nasal spray, or oral consumption.
IV vs. IM: What’s the Difference?
-
IV Infusion: Administered directly into the bloodstream, IV ketamine offers rapid absorption and precise dosing. This method is ideal for patients seeking quick relief and consistent therapeutic effects. IV infusions are typically conducted in a controlled setting, allowing for close monitoring and adjustment as needed.
-
IM Injection: Delivered into the muscle, IM ketamine provides a convenient alternative for those who prefer a quicker administration process. While the onset may be slightly slower compared to IV, IM injections still offer substantial benefits and are suitable for certain treatment plans.
